The New World Record for Fastest Internet

Engineers have set a new world record for internet speed. well I’m about to blow your mind will this is the this you that you dream of
this internet speed when it comes to uploading uh later clips yeah you dream
you had this speed right here let me tell you it’s a world’s fastest data
transmission rate ever achieved by a team of university college London engineers.
engineers were able to transmit data at a rate of 178 terabits a second
that is 178 million megabits a second come on will get it together that’s too
much to handle. what are we doing here? what is this? that is enough speed to
download the entire NetFlix library in less than a second.

how does that make
you feel this gives me a lot of fear, okay this is it could be a simulation
you’re able to process that much speed mm-hmm then maybe it’s just wow this
this through willy does for a loop dude’s gonna be up all night.
right now this
speed is too much well it’s interesting you say that because it does become a
strangely philosophical conversation because apparently, this speed is close to
what has been speculated about the theoretical maximum for data transmission?

this speed is close to the theoretical limit of data transmission set up by
American mathematician Claude Shannon in 1949. so they maxed it out there’s
like I guess that’s some sort of a theoretical max it’s really
interesting highly technical stuff.
the record which is double the capacity of
any system currently deployed in the world was achieved by transmitting data
through a much wider range of colors of light or wavelengths than is typically
used in optical fiber and apparently.
because it’s just different a different
range of colors and wavelengths they could go in there and modify currently
existing fiber networks to operate at this speed. there would be a cost
associated with it but apparently, it’s a similar tech which is kind of wild.

when is it coming I don’t think he’s coming anytime soon. the benefit of this the technique is that it can be deployed on already existing infrastructure and it
can by upgrading the amplifiers that are located on optical fiber routes at 40
to 100-kilometer intervals.

upgrading an amplifier would cost this is a British
article 16 000 British pounds while installing new optical fibers in urban
areas can cost 450 000 British pounds a kilometer. so laying new lines is way
more expensive than running some sort of an upgrade like this.
It’s mean this is
wild stuff you’re right it makes you think it messes with your brain
a little bit there’s another. I believe there’s actually another example that
they gave here where was it you can download to get this. 

because I think
there was another example that helps put it in perspective oh at this speed
listen to this particular one screwed me up. at this speed, it
would take less than an hour to download the data that made up the world’s first image of a black hole. 
because of its size had to be stored on half
a ton of hard drives and transported by plane who would think that the data
that made up the world’s first image of a black hole was that large and
